| Vian kuvaus | There was an insufficient application of the sealing compound around the sealing surface of the two housing halves of the high voltage battery, which could lead to water ingress in the high voltage battery. If there is water ingress in the high voltage battery, this will be shown to the customer as an isolation fault by means of a yellow check control message (CCM). If the CCM will be ignored and multiple isolation faults occur due to the water ingress, the vehicle may stall by battery shut down. Furthermore, over a long period of inactivity, an overheating of the high voltage battery may occur and, in rare cases, a thermal event, even when the vehicle is not in operation. On April 22, 2024, BMW decided to initiate the safety recall 0061520800 and 0061530800 “Check HV Battery” with regard to the MINI model F56 BEV for certain production dates " Vehicle Production: 10.06.2020 – 18.06.2020, 01.09.2022 – 01.12.2022". Furthermore, it has been decided to conduct a field monitoring regarding the detection of isolation faults in the HV battery of F56 BEV vehicles. The analysis of this issue is ongoing. On affected vehicles the HV battery will be checked and, if a leak is detected, potentially predamaged components will be replaced. |
