| Vian kuvaus | During the production process an excessive force was applied to the component during demolding after opening the diecasting tool. In very rare cases there may be cracks near the area of a rivet flange which is used to support the wheel arch. If the longitudinal beam has cracks, the structural strengths of the chassis could be impaired. During vehicle operation, the crack may growth, which could have an influence on crash kinematics. Over lifetime of the vehicle, structural failure in the event of an accident cannot be excluded. In this case there is a risk of increased deformation in the area of the second row of seats and the HV battery. On August 8, 2024, BMW decided to extended the safety recall 0041300200 and launch recall 0041320200 for additional 3158 vehicles world wide. On affected vehicles the left rear longitudinal beam will be checked and if necessary, reworked. |
