Vian kuvaus | On the basis of rolling quality analyses, BMW Motorrad has ascertained that on the control unit for the reverser function (ex-factory option), due to a faulty sealing of the control unit humidity can enter the unit. Over time this humidity can cause corrosion at internal electric contacts. This corrosion can cause a functional failure of the control unit (loss of the comfort function reverser). In rare cases, creepage current between corroded contacts can lead to a heating of the component. This heating can advance until the control unit suffers burn damage. In single cases, fire from the control unit can reach surrounding parts / the complete vehicle. BMW Motorrad is to conduct a Technical Campaign 0000611900 with customer notification. On affected vehicles, the reverser control unit will be disconnected permanently from the electric system of the vehicle as an immediate (interim) solution. In a second step, an improved part will be retrofitted as soon as it is available. |
