Vian kuvaus | During the production process the affected modules were constructed with a double cathode layer or a misalignment of the layers. In case of a double layer cathode sheet and a misalignment, the lithium is plated or accumulated at the edge of the anode sheet. As a result, lithium dendrites could electrically connect the cathode and the anode or the anode tab without any separator damage. With misalignment (overhang ≤0.1mm), the lithium is plated along the edge of the anode sheet. As a result, lithium coating could electrically connect the cathode and the anode without any separator damage. If the cell module has not been produced according to specification this may result in a short circuit between cathode and anode. In the worst case this short circuit may lead to a thermal propagation of the module resulting in a vehicle fire. On affected vehicles the affected cell module of the HV-battery will be replaced. |
