| Vian kuvaus | On the basis of rolling quality analyses, BMW Motorrad has ascertained that the lid of the Vario side cases may not lock reliably when operated by customers even after the repair measures as required under recall 00 00 77 04 00 have been carried out. Although the lid appears to be properly closed, it may happen that none of the two latch hooks (right/left) locks correctly. In case of both hooks being pseudo-locked, the lid is not securely fastened. This can lead to the case lid opening while riding and possibly being torn off. This recall replaces safety recall 00 00 77 04 00. BMW Motorrad is to conduct a Technical Campaign with customer notification. For side cases in customer hand, a safe fastening of the lid while riding will be achieved with a mechanical safeguard (strap). Customers will receive a corresponding instruction, the cases will be marked with a warning label. Use without safeguard will be explicitly prohibited. This interim solution will be valid until availability of technically improved side cases. These will be made available to affected customers free of charge through a future Service Campaign. |
